Hay detalles que, cuando los ves una vez, pueden pasar desapercibidos. Pero cuando empiezas a encontrarlos una y otra vez, sabes que ahí hay algo. Eso es precisamente lo que me ocurrió durante la última Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Entre looks impecablemente estudiados, colores inesperados y ese particular effortless chic que tan bien dominan las danesas, hubo un gesto que se repetía y que terminó llamando especialmente mi atención: los jerséis y las camisas atados al cuerpo. Ya no se trata simplemente de llevar un jersey alrededor de la cintura porque sí. El nudo aparece calculado, casi arquitectónico: sobre una blazer, alrededor de un vestido, acompañando una camisa o cruzado estratégicamente sobre los hombros. Una manera aparentemente casual de vestir que, en realidad, tiene mucho de intención.

A la cintura, alrededor del cuello, sobre los hombros… pero, curiosamente, no necesariamente puestos. 

Y es que parece que esta temporada el jersey ha decidido ampliar sus funciones. Ya no tiene que estar dentro de un pantalón, debajo de un abrigo o perfectamente colocado sobre los hombros. Ahora también puede convertirse en una especie de accesorio.

There are details that might go unnoticed the first time you see them. But when you start spotting them again and again, you know there’s something to it.

That is precisely what happened to me during the last Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Amidst impeccably curated looks, unexpected colors, and that signature "effortless chic" Danish women master so well, one recurring detail really caught my eye: sweaters and shirts tied around the body. It is no longer simply a matter of tying a sweater around your waist just for the sake of it. The knot appears calculated—almost architectural: worn over a blazer, wrapped around a dress, paired with a shirt, or draped strategically across the shoulders. It is a seemingly casual way of dressing that is, in reality, highly intentional.

At the waist, around the neck, over the shoulders... but, interestingly, not necessarily worn in the traditional sense.

It seems that this season, the sweater has decided to expand its role. It no longer has to be tucked into trousers, worn under a coat, or neatly draped over the shoulders; now, it can also serve as a sort of accessory.

El jersey, ese nuevo complemento

Atarlo a la cintura no es precisamente algo nuevo. Todas hemos recurrido alguna vez a ese gesto tan práctico de quitarnos el jersey y anudárnoslo alrededor de la cintura.

La diferencia está en que ahora parece hacerse con toda la intención.

El nudo deja de ser simplemente funcional y pasa a formar parte del look. El jersey aporta volumen, movimiento y, sobre todo, ese aire aparentemente despreocupado que en Copenhague saben convertir en una cuestión de estilo. Prendas que se anudan para dibujar la silueta, romper la estructura de un look o introducir una nueva capa visual. Y ahí está la verdadera tendencia. No en el jersey. En la manera de colocarlo.

Y lo mismo ocurre cuando se lleva alrededor del cuello: una forma sencilla de añadir una capa de color o textura sin necesidad de ponerse realmente otra prenda.

The sweater: that new accessory

Tying it around the waist isn't exactly new. We’ve all resorted at some point to that practical move of taking off a sweater and knotting it around our waists.

The difference now is that it seems to be done with real intention.

The knot is no longer merely functional; it becomes part of the look. The sweater adds volume, movement, and—above all—that seemingly effortless vibe that the Copenhagen crowd knows how to turn into a style statement. Garments knotted to define the silhouette, break up a look’s structure, or introduce a new visual layer. And therein lies the real trend. Not in the sweater itself, but in the way it’s worn.

The same applies when it’s worn around the neck: a simple way to add a layer of color or texture without actually putting on another garment.

¿Casual o calculado?

Aquí está la gracia.

Porque estos looks parecen decir: “Me he puesto esto sin pensarlo demasiado”.

Cuando, probablemente, se ha pensado bastante.

Y quizá esa sea precisamente una de las claves del estilo escandinavo: conseguir que algo estudiado parezca completamente natural.

Un jersey de punto grueso anudado a la cintura puede transformar unos pantalones sencillos. Una camisa de rayas alrededor del cuello puede romper la monotonía de un conjunto neutro. Y una prenda que normalmente llevaríamos puesta adquiere una función completamente diferente.

Casual or calculated?

That’s the beauty of it.

Because these looks seem to say: “I threw this on without giving it much thought.”

When, in reality, a fair amount of thought likely went into it.

And perhaps that is precisely one of the keys to Scandinavian style: making something carefully considered look completely natural.

A chunky knit sweater tied around the waist can transform a simple pair of trousers. A striped shirt draped around the neck can break up the monotony of a neutral outfit. And a garment we would normally wear takes on a completely different function.

EL NUDO COMO ACCESORIO

Quizá esta sea la parte más interesante.

La prenda anudada deja de ser simplemente una prenda y empieza a funcionar como un accesorio más del look. El resultado tiene algo deliberadamente imperfecto, pero nunca descuidado. Porque el verdadero secreto está en conseguir que parezca espontáneo cuando, en realidad, cada detalle está pensado.

THE KNOT AS AN ACCESSORY

This is perhaps the most interesting part.

The knotted garment ceases to be merely a piece of clothing and begins to function as an accessory that complements the look. The result has a deliberately imperfect quality, yet it never looks sloppy. After all, the real secret lies in making it appear spontaneous when, in fact, every detail has been carefully considered.

Mi apuesta para el próximo otoño

No sé si estamos ante una gran tendencia destinada a conquistar todos los armarios o simplemente ante uno de esos pequeños gestos de street style que aparecen durante una Fashion Week y después desaparecen.

Pero una cosa sí tengo clara: en Copenhague lo vi demasiado como para no contároslo.

Y, sinceramente, me gusta.

Porque no hace falta comprar nada nuevo para probarlo. Basta con mirar de otra manera lo que ya tenemos en el armario.

Así que este otoño, antes de guardar el jersey porque “todavía hace calor”, quizá podamos preguntarnos:

¿Y si no me lo pongo? ¿Y si simplemente me lo ato?

I’m not sure if we’re looking at a major trend destined to take over every wardrobe, or simply one of those fleeting street-style moments that pop up during Fashion Week and then vanish.

But one thing is certain: I saw it so often in Copenhagen that I just had to share it with you.

And, honestly, I like it.

Because you don’t need to buy anything new to try it out. You just have to look at what’s already in your closet in a different way.

So this autumn, before putting that sweater away because “it’s still warm out,” maybe we should ask ourselves:

What if I don’t actually wear it? What if I just tie it on?
